6th Grade: Hand Optical Illusion Slideshow
Project #2: Scholastic Art Magazine Due May 5
Project #1: Optical Illusion Hand Drawing
Hello 6th graders!
I have a fun project that looks very simple but if you don't take a little care it won't turn out very convincing.
Do you know what an optical illusion is? It is a trick your eyes play on you to make something look 3D when it really isn't. I remember having a lot of fun looking at Magic Eye books when I was a kid. Have you heard of this book or do you have one? They are filled with optical illusions and are fun to try and see!
In this project you will create a hand that looks like it is rising out of the page.

In this project you will create a hand that looks like it is rising out of the page.
You will need:
- pencil and eraser
- Piece of paper
- Ruler
- Markers (you can use crayons or colored pencils if you don't have markers--see the extra information about this below)
Step 2: Get your supplies ready if you haven't already. Trace your hand and wrist as the video shows.
Step 3: Use a ruler to make the straight lines across the paper. Skip over the hand as you go. Rewatch the video up to this part if you missed how to make the lines. Step 4: Draw the curved lines over the hand to connect the lines. Again, rewatch the video if you aren't sure about how to curve the lines. Step 5: Use a black marker to trace over all the horizontal lines NOT the outline of the hand. IF YOU DON'T HAVE MARKERS CLICK THE BUTTON THAT SAYS "NO MARKERS? NO PROBLEM!" TO SEE HOW YOU CAN BETTER USE CRAYONS OR COLORED PENCILS Step 6: Pick a marker color to start with and make a new line on top of each black line. Step 7: Repeat Step 6 until all the white paper is gone. use the markers to fill in any little gaps between lines. Step 8: Step back and look at your artwork. It should look like the hand is coming out of the page! Step 9: Look over the rubric (click on the button to the right to see it) and make sure you have done your best work and met the criteria. Then have your parent help you take a picture of your artwork. You can be in the picture too if you like :) and finally have your parent email the picture to me at [email protected] You can also email me at the same address with any questions you may have about the project. I can't wait to see what you come up with! Project Idea Credit: https://feltmagnet.com/drawing/Art-Lesson-How-To-Draw-A-Hand-Print-In-3-Dimensional-Colors |
